Nautilus

My first coloured drawing, more a kind of experiment than nothing serious, although I probably will use it as a cover for an animals documentals DVD. Before anyone said it, I do: Yes it has little contrast, it looks as my weak point, although I must say that the pencils I used aren't pretty good, in fact I bought them at a supermarket at Cambridge, and they were worth 31p, that is, for that price you can't wait anything better. They are wax pencils and don't cover too much the paper, also I didn't use too much presure. I used the yellow, pink, orange and red ones, mixing them.

I used a picture as reference, it's from an old Jack Coustoure's book. I like the contrast of the colours (although the picture is more brow than red) and the way they fade away. Also part of the nautilus is in the shadow, looking like coming out from the dark, I tried to achieve that efect but nothing good came from it, so before I spoiled it completely, I stoped. It was more difficult than I expected cause it had a lot of white spots, and then the tentacules, they where all together, and I did a mess of then, I used a grafite pencil to give some shade and for the back ground.

Well, I suppous that not many of you have read every thing I wrote, sorry, I don't know to breif. Well anyway enjoy it. Say what ever you want about it, I know it is not very good but...
